Lily Yuan loves art, education and social activities. She will lead the “Children’s Theatre of Richmond” musical production team to create performances of the highest level and excellence. She aims to promote the local cultural industry, promote sponsored businesses and will make every effort to produce high income performances. She has interviewed with many local media companies and they have since been published and aired. In 2018, she will be producing two ‘Disney’ inspired musicals, “The Little Mermaid” & “Beauty and the Beast”. The casts will range from 7-15 years of age and will be students from the Greater Vancouver area. She hopes that local businesses with whom share her vision will join her as sponsors to support the arts and youth education.

EMMA SWORDS


    Director of Disney’s musical “The Little Mermaid  Jr”

 Originally from the England, Emma Swords is a Musical Theatre Teacher/Director with a Master’s in  Education (MA) who is extremely dedicated to children’s learning and the arts. Founder and   Director of ‘Swords Stage School’ and an experienced Director of ten Musical Theatre productions including, ‘Oliver’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘Les Misérables’ and ‘West Side Story’. Emma is a Grade 8 singer and has over twenty-two years of Dance/Drama experience. She has a wealth of teaching experience with students aged 3-18 around the world from her posts in Spain, England and Canada. With her passion for teaching and the skills gained at various international teaching positions, she hopes to promote performance opportunities and enrich the lives of the young people of Vancouver.


 HARRY ZHAO

Choreographer of Disney’s musical “The Little Mermaid Jr”

Harry has a WDC International accreditation with   the British Royal Dancing Association and is an   accredited ISTD International Teacher. Harry also is the Vice President of the World chinese Association of International Standard Dance Federation and won the 2008 ‘Hong Kong International Open Youth Latin Championship’. In 2009, he represented China in the World Sports Dance Open and won third place. That same year he was crowned ‘Macau Open Professional Latin Star’. From 2008-2012 he has been the ‘World Chinese International Standard Dance’ champion. In 2010 he won the ‘World Sport Dance Championship for Latin dance’. In 2016 he was invited to enter ‘Practitioners - Model Era’ and was named the Chinese representative of Chinese latin dance for his works ‘Fireworks easy cold’, ‘Women flowers’ and ‘Daisy Taiwan’. Harry has more than ten years of teaching experience and has repeatedly participated in the Andy Lau, JJ Lin and Jordan Chan concerts/TV shows. He has also worked as a choreographer for ‘Miracle Dance Forest Conference’, ‘You are the One’ and other programs as choreographer. Harry founded ‘Vision Dance limited’ in 2015 which enrols over 200 students. Harry is hoping to incorporate his background in Latin dance into the musical and produce electrifying choreography.


JOSEPH SPITALE

Director of Disney’s musical “Beauty and the Beast Jr”

Joseph is thrilled to be directing Beauty and The Beast Jr. Joseph is no stranger to this show or to Disney. In 2016, Joseph played Lumiere at the Woodstock Playhouse in New York. He also performed at Tokyo Disneyland as the lead singer in Minnie Oh! Minnie. In Vancouver, Joseph has done productions with Theatre Under the Stars, Vancouver Opera, UBC Opera, TooFly Productions, Exit 22, North Shore Light Opera Society, Capilano Suspension Bridge, and the Good Noise Gospel Singers. Some of Joseph’s international credits include Marius in Les Misérables, King Louis XIII in The Three Musketeers, Alan in Babes in Toyland, and Fred in A Christmas Carol. Joseph has performed everywhere from Lincoln Centre in NYC, to Off-Broadway, to cruise ships, and all across the USA as the lead in a National Tour. Joseph is an American Musical and Dramatic Academy (NYC) graduate, and a University of British Columbia (Bachelor of Music) graduate. Most recently, as a director, Joseph has directed Gamma Delta Nasty for the New York Theatre Festival. Joseph is a teacher and Artistic Director at Indigo Education. He is excited to bring together his passion for theatre and teaching in Beauty and The Beast Jr!



EMILY MATCHETTE

Assistant Director of Disney’s musical “Beauty and the Beast Jr”

Emily is a recent graduate of the Bachelor of Performing Arts program at Douglas College andthe Musical Theatre Diploma program at Capilano University. She began as a teacher’s assistant at the Lindbjerg Academy of Performing Arts six years ago, for musical theatre and dance classes, with students ages three to sixteen. After graduating high school, Emily started choreographing song and dance solos and groups for different dance competitions and teaching the Triple Threat day program at Lindbjerg. Select performing credits include: Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie (Exit 22), Ensemble in Rent (URP), Lou Ann in Hairspray(TUTS). Recently, Emily was the choreographer for Draining the Swamp (Curious Creations), assistant choreographer for The Drowsy Chaperone (TUTS) and The Little Mermaid (Align Entertainment), and choreographed Ten Blocks on the Camino Real(Arbutus Studios) and Legally Blonde Jr (Lindbjerg Academy). Emily directed both Fowl Play and The Eleventh Hour with her Bachelor of Performing Arts cohort: Matchstick Productions.
