What People are Saying about CTORA

Stir Arts & Culture, Review of Wizard of Oz: Strong performances and visuals, not to mention airborne witches and monkeys, make for a classic trip over the rainbow. With CTORA’S last show, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, the company demonstrated a knack for creative use of props and special effects, and this is again apparent here. By far the biggest highlight here is the flying. We see the characters fly across the stage throughout the show, with the Wicked Witch at times seeming to just drop down from the sky. Set designer Brian Ball has cleverly created illusions of grandeur, with the help of moving panels and the aforementioned projections throughout, and a unique approach to visually presenting the “great and powerful Oz”. Creative Team Member/Artist: Theatre is an anthem to my life & its soundtrack has spanned many years with many beautiful performances, songs & collaborated creative works. It takes a team effort. I have been truly blessed to have been a part of many great teams in Toronto & Vancouver. CTORA is one. Their work ethic is one that lives up to their standard of delivering an unforgettable experience for both the creative teams that work their crafts and delighted audiences. Congratulations to Lily Yuan & Janet Wang and all who were involved in the recent nomination & win at the Ovation  Awards which recognizes and celebrates outstanding achievements in musical theatre. Well deserved!!

Parent of Child in Academy Program: CTORA is a wonderful organization that encourages children to be creative. My daughter auditioned for a production, with no prior musical theatre experience. I love the fact that children don’t need a professional resume or headshot to be considered. We have been involved in three productions and enjoying every aspect of the company. My daughter has grown as an actor and can’t wait to attend practices. She is looking forward to being a part of next production.

Parent of Child in Academy Program: I would highly recommend CTORA for any child. Not only are the shows very high in caliber with incredible production / directing / choreography teams, but CTORA fosters a sense of community and family among the parents and children. My daughter has made some life long friendships while developing her confidence and skills on stage. We are grateful for the opportunities provided and my daughter looks forward to the possibility of being on stage again with this amazing company!
